| Mission |
Our mission is to serve as a stepping stone for musicians to enter the world of music distribution and experimenting with new economic principles to keep costs low. We are committed to developing the label/artist relationship that imposes the least on the artistic process. Project aristotle records will own no copyright to the music created by the artist. We use all techonology available for distribution of music and use all formats decided upon by the artist and the label. Our music is distributed directly from the label, through internet shops, and through minor local distribution avenues in artist's local scene. |
| Purpose |
Our purpose is to serve as a stepping stone for musicians to enter the world of music distribution. We do not seek to maximize profit for ourselves, but try to limit the costs of production with limited release runs. This prevents needless costs being drowned in unbought cds and returns the maximum amount of profit to the artist. In addition, Project Aristotle Records seeks only minimal compensation after cost of production for the maintenance of the company and to seek out other artists. |
| Commitment |
We are committed to elevating the artist/label relationship to a new level of trust, whereby the artist is given full flexibility in the creative process. The artist/promoter relationship is first and foremost. The development of this relationship allows for full flexibility. Ultimately, this is the most important piece. The overall goal is to create a network of artists that help each other with promotion, distribution, and success in their careers. As the goal for project aristotle is not maximizing profit, we are interested in the furthering of music as a medium of artistic expression, and seek to bring those artists into a community of artistic freedom and promotion. |
| Copyright |
We keep the copyright of all music created by the artist solely with the artist. The artist retains full control of the material produced barring any material borrowed from another copyright. Project Aristotle Records does not own the artist, nor has any intention to do as such. We only retain the right to sell and distribute releases after production, but will not reprint without the artist's permission. After each release, the artist is free to go and take their music with them or stay as long as they like. |
| Technology |
We utilize all technology available in the promotion process. This involves a combination of local promotion via radio, sales in record store, and the latest in internet promotion with the use of streaming technology, internet radio, site reviews, and whatever else exists or will be produced as an effective technology. |
| Format |
We use all formats of production as viable options for each endeavor. Many record companies have started to use only compact discs as a viable medium for distribution. However, we will seek to use casettes, records, compact discs, mini-discs, and electronic distribution as methods for delivering the artistic creation to the listener. Formats may be restricted due to cost considerations, but never at the cost of artistic expression. In addition, there may be a run of posters, postcards, stickers, t-shirts, and other secondary items to help promote the release. |
| Distribution |
We use a number of distribution methods. First, we focus on the label being the primary distributor of records, in order to maximize profit for the artist and to open the community to more artists available at Project Aristotle Records. Second, we will have internet distribution through various online record stores to help other avid music buyers save on shipping charges. Third, we hope to use records stores local to an artist and the record company through distribution channels. All of these are subject to agreement by the artist and the label.
