for the sake of brevity i will put forth only a few reasons why i think television is a cesspool of ignorance.

i hate the capitalist commerical industry that iconalizes their products. the box has warped our sense of values and morality, we have been given our sense of values and morality from television and it has changed our outlook on how we see our bodies.

there are teenagers starving themeselves so they can emulate the girls on tv, in order to feel better about their self image. we have traumatised an entire generation of young women. people begin forming stereotypes before they meet an actual culture or ethnic group. promiscuity is glorified and honored.

television promotes unrealistic views of family life and love. problems are solved in a hour program. people always have the answer. everyone finds love. this world is not one that is filled with "beautiful" people. ugly is not bad. beauty is not good. Do you understand?

intelligence is riduculed.

look at any high school sitcom.

people arrange their furniture around the television. their was a time in our society when it was important to be intelligent and gifted in rhetoric and polemics. now get together with freinds revolve around a box that emits light. our lives are immersed in this fake reality.

since television is based primarily on our vision and we do nothing but stare into a box we have little to no actual thought processes, we dont think, we are at the mercy of the television to input whatever it likes into our heads and we have no way to stop it. books are neglected because people don't have the attention span necessary to be able to read. I'll stop now.

what are the merits?...im open to hear any...
