from: kaika re: good and bad vs. good and evil comments: "I can't help it. I was just reading a bit more of it.. You say "religion, in particular judaism, brought about the inversion of this equation to bring them more power. reversing the steps, we have "beloved of god = happy = beautiful = powerful = noble = good". if you are beloved of god, then you are happy. etc.etc. I think (KNOW!!) that you are fundamentally wrong here, as judaism knew right from the beginning that they were NOT beloved of god (they were only frustrated exiles with hunger for power and vengeance!) and the incredible thing is that they succeeded and that from then on their whole invention of being "the chosen" has ended up influencing almost every little aspect of our society (analyse it and you will see the "tentacles" of it everywhere.) See.. it even is the base for something as fundamental as "good and bad" should be. It's an endless subject, I know.. but now we have something to start discussing!! I believe we should clean up and start anew on a purely human (and only HUMAN) base. To find out what HUMAN is (was-is) seems the only thing really worth living for. To me." response: "actually, kaika, you're not far off from what nietzsche wanted to do. his whole life was centered around empowering those who could handle it, those who are willing to embrace life rather than deny it. he liked the idea of make morality human and emphasizing individual virtues over the collective. this is about as close as one can get to a human view of morality." |
