name: joe dobzynski jr. work: general comments: "max often refers to his work as 'his bad teenage poetry', but i've told him he's wrong on two accounts. first, eventually he's not going to be a teenager and the poetry follows the poet. second, it's not bad. you can see the influences of slam, cummings, and just general existential angst throughout the poetry. confusion is a perfect example. half storytelling, half reminiscence. all angst at a sworn off love. the style of the poem is to emphasize the typical love poem with indents for the real life, a duality that is present in our lives of the fairy tale vs. the concrete. overall, a decent poem. and i can definitely relate." |
